A prominently featured DJ in Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, former broadcast executive Peter Cavanaugh pioneered the evolution of FM Radio in America and helped launch the careers of Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper and many more. He lives in Oakhurst, California with his wife, Eileen, near the entrance to Yosemite National Park.

At the age of sixteen in 1957, Peter C. Cavanaugh enjoyed a fifty-eight percent total audience share on his hometown station, WNDR in Syracuse. Decades later, he wrote a book about his adventures ever since, promoting and producing literally hundreds of early concerts with the likes of Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Kiss and so on, as well as running a seven station radio group which included the top-rated Rock & Roll stations in America.

This digital, Tenth Anniversary Edition of "Local DJ" is a wild ride - structurally arranged as a mosaic of interrelated stories with substantial personal overview or, as more commonly referenced, "attitude." It updates the original hard cover copy with substantially increased content, dozens of new pictures, numerous links, interactive opportunities and much more.

From the earliest days of Elvis through Satellite Radio in 2012, Local DJ travels through time and space with instinctive grace -sacramental with sin - a life web spin.

"What a concept! It may be hard to believe, but there actually was a time when radio, artists, and the record companies shared a vision, embraced the creative process, and assisted each other in a unified goal of getting the music to the people. Peter C. Cavanaugh was one of the warriors who lived and breathed these original elements." --TED NUGENT--"United Sportsmen of America"

"Of all who had a major influence on me while growing up in the Midwest, none matched the audaciousness, tenacity and gonzo-like behavior of Peter Cavanaugh. Thank you, Peter Cavanaugh, for saving a generation of Flint kids from the likes of Pat Boone" -- MICHAEL MOORE -- "Bowling for Columbine"/"Fahrenheit 9/11/"Capitalism-A Love Story"

Pete Cavanaugh is one of the true offspring of Alan Freed. Long before there was FM underground radio -- and for a good time after it started--he made WTAC, a small but mighty AM station in grungy Flint, Michigan, into must listening for every electrified longhair in the region. -- DAVE MARSH --Sirius/XM Satellite Radio/Rolling Stone Magazine

"Local DJ" "What a great read! The memories it brought back! Walking to my friend's pirate radio station, carrying my box of 45s, listening to Peter C. to get psyched to "go on the air". And no ghostwriter. Very impressive!" -- BOB SHANNON--WCBS-FM New York

"Peter Cavanaugh is magical with his ribald recollections and praiseworthy prose. "Local DJ" brings back a single point in time and space. Not for little children, old ladies or small domestic pets." -- SHOTGUN TOM KELLY---KRTH---Los Angeles

"Man, you are MY hero. One of the reasons I wanted to get into the crazy business was 'cause I listened to Peter C. Cavanaugh!! Thanks for giving me that old "radio vibe" again in "Local DJ!" -- DALE DORMAN -- "The Breakfast Club" -- Oldies 103.3 -- WODS-FM -- Boston

"An unflinching, fascinating, behind the scenes accounting of a time never to be seen again. I'm getting copies for all my friends." -- RANDY MICHAELS----Former CEO --The Tribune Company--Chicago

"Love the Book!!" -- LEE ABRAMS, Former Vice-President/Chief Innovations Officer -- The Tribune Company

"Best wishes to you, Peter, and I hope you continue to produce more of the history of our generation of broadcasters. " -- RALPH GUILD--Founder/Chairman/CEO--McGavren Guild Radio

"I was hooked after the first 40 pages and couldn't put it down. Congratulations!" -- Dr. Robert J. Thompson, Director, Center for the Study of Popular Television ---- S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University

Local DJ Tenth Anniversary Edition eBook Peter Cavanaugh Reviews

Bought back many fond memories of the 60s and 70s. Back when rock and roll was born. Enjoyed it a lot.

I grew up where this book takes place. I went to many of the events, I even road my bike to them before I was old enough to drive. Peter C was this voice of rock radio in Flint, Mi during the mid-later 60's and 70's. I recognize the names, the references, locales etc., so this book is an enjoyable trip down memory lane. He pulls no punches, he doesn't watered down his language for mass consumption, he tells it as if you are sitting in a bar with him, letting the anecdotes fly...
Enjoyed the local story's that came out of the Flint area!
